Number three is FreeCiv, by the way, which also won a BGIA last year.

My group has also recently started playing Atlantic Star. (All our games have been at least five players)

We have found that, unlike Alhambra, you really need to pay attention to what your RH opponents are doing, which can make accurate play hard work.

In Alhambra you can see what tiles your RH opponents are collecting as they are face up on the table - but in Atlantic Star the cards are hidden and if you don't notice that you are trying to complete the same cruise as the players on your right you won't do well.

I think there is still considerable luck in Atlantic Star (particularly concerning the 9 value boats) but I probably agree that a better player is more likely to have an advantage at this than at Alhambra.

In Alhambra a lot of the moves are relatively obvious. In Atlantic Star there are often difficult decisions to be made. It really helps the game that the money is so tight.

Did I mention that El Grande: Decennial is at the very top of my wishlist?
(And would benefit the entire BS community... and would have cheap ($0) shipping) :-)
